"Mirror, Mirror, o'er the Sink" Poetry Theater
A poem in two voices
Summary: A dog asks a mirror if he is as beautiful and the mirror responds.
Presentation Suggestions:Have the students read or perform the poem in front of the class. Have the students act out the different lines while they read them. For example, have the student playing the “mirror” recite his lines out of the audience’s sight so that his voice appears to come from the mirror to which the other character is speaking.
Props: A hand mirror mounted on the wall or propped up against the chalkboard would be a great prop. If one is not available the poem can be performed without it.

Mirror, Mirror, o'er the Sink
- “Mirror, mirror, o’er the sink,
Tell me what you really think.
Do my lovely eyes of brown
Dazzle like a diamond crown?
Is my hair of gleaming gold
Beautiful, as I am told?
Quoth the mirror,
- “Yes, ’tis true.
All these things are said of you.
Still, I beg you, back away.
Clearly, you’ve not flossed today.
Kibble breath has made me fog.
Off the sink you stupid dog!”
